St. James Roman Catholic Church

Golf Ball Drop Fundraiser

The federal government has its GDP, Gross Domestic Product. Well, our own Parish of Saint James is not to be outdone, for we have the GBD, better known as the Golf Ball Drop. The GBD is a ‘fair way’ to help our Parish in its time of financial need.

This year’s event will take place on Saturday, June 15th after the 5 pm Mass on the ‘fairway’ located between the Church and the Parish Center. On that day (rain date June 22nd) all uniquely numbered golf balls that have been purchased will be released from a great height and dropped onto an incline and will putter towards the $5,000, the $2,000, the $1,000 and four $500 pins. The ball resting closest to each pin wins that pin prize (ties, if any, will split the pin prize).

The ‘Greens Fee’ (ticket price) is $100. Up to 4 names may share a golf ball (a foursome). You need not be present to win, but why not be present and enjoy free barbecue food at one of the most fun events around this town.

You may buy your golf ball after Masses. A friendly starter will be there to start you on your Golf Ball Drop round. You may also buy a ball at the rectory office.

2024 Special Needs Masses

Ministry to Families with Special Needs

Families who have members with special needs or developmental disabilities often find it difficult to attend weekly Mass together. We are pleased to provide an opportunity for families to experience and celebrate God’s presence in their lives at a special Mass.

This Mass is celebrated at 12:30 pm (please note new time) on the second Saturday of each month during the school year – January through May and September through December.

The next Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 14 at 12:30 pm

Please note: This Mass fulfills the Sunday Mass Obligation

The remaining 2024 Special Needs Masses will be celebrated on the following second Saturdays at 12:30 pm:

October 12 November 9 December 14

This ministry strives to be inclusive in its approach, inviting those with special needs to fill liturgical roles

such as proclaimer and musical accompaniment.

Please pick up a flyer about the Ministry to Families with Special Needs in the Church vestibule today and please help spread the word!

Live streamed Masses

We are happy to tell you that through the kind generosity of St. James parishioner Jim Townsend and his partner Corey Arnold, of Bars and Tone Media Productions, we will continue to provide our weekend celebration of the Mass. Mass will be available on the website as well as the parish Facebook page and the Religious Education YouTube Channel through Thursday of the following week, and then available on the Weekly mass page. Our thanks also to the parishioners who responded to our call to be trained in providing this vital service to those unable to attend Mass in person, we are always looking for people wanting to learn the system and help out.

Weddings and Funerals are also able to be livestreamed should the family request it. Please see the front desk for more information.

The Catholic Faith Network (CFN),  will continue to provide televised and online daily Masses. For your convenience,  CFN also offers other devotional and spiritual programs. (Optimum channel 29/137; Verizon FiOS TV channel 296 and Spectrum channel 162/471)

Mission Statement

We, the Catholic community of the Three Village area, formed as the Body of Christ through the waters of Baptism, are a pilgrim community journeying toward the fullness of the Kingdom of God, guided by the Holy Spirit, nourished by the Eucharist and formed by the Gospel.

We strive to respond to Jesus’ invitation: to be faithful and fruitful disciples; to be a Good Samaritan to (our) neighbor and enemy; stewards of and for God’s creation and living witnesses of Faith, Hope and Charity … so that in Jesus’ name, we may be a welcoming community, respectful of life in all its diversities.
